Transom stained glass can bring privacy to your home without blocking all the light.

Transom stained glass can bring privacy to your home without blocking all the light.

If you own a home with transom windows, you already know how nice it is to have extra natural light into your home. However these windows that let in extra light can also allow your neighbors to see directly into your home, leaving you with little or no privacy. This is a particular issue if you have “high rise” neighbors.

Transom stained glass windows can be custom designed with clear textured or beveled glass that will allow light in while giving you the privacy you’re looking for. And of course, as with all stained glass windows, they will give the look and feel of the room you install them in a huge style boost.

Are you familiar with transom windows? This is an architectural term referring to those small windows that are placed either atop your other windows, or up near the ceiling of a room. They are usually non-functional, meaning they do not open, but sometimes they can be built to function as well. Another common location for a transom is over the front door. This is also built with the same practical purpose: to let more light into your entryway.

Transom stained glass has probably been around as long as transom windows have been, because they are a beautiful match. Want to see more? Please take a look at our transom gallery of photos. These are stained glass transom windows we have done for previous clients.

Remember, if you see something in those photos that you absolutely love, we can build a stained glass piece just like it for your transom windows. The size or shape is unimportant, because all our work is custom made, so it can be any dimensions necessary. And if you have your own ideas, just show us a photo or a sketch and our designers will work with you.

Most (but not all) of our customers prefer their transom stained glass to be made from clear, beveled, or frosted glass. That is so their transom windows continue to fulfill their main function, which is letting the light into your home. And speaking of beveled glass, this is a phenomenal choice for transom windows, because the bevels refract the light in distinctive and unusual ways when the sun shines through. Prisms of rainbow colors are created and our customers tell us they never tire of seeing these colored hits of light dancing through their homes.
